How To Mask A Ceiling Before You Paint
How to mask a ceiling before painting, and why it’s a good idea
Before we begin painting any interior walls in our clients’ home, we always mask the ceiling. Why? Like with most painting projects, we do this to avoid overspray and to achieve perfectly straight lines!
To mask a ceiling, we like to use a 3M masker, 1″ tape and 12″ masking paper. Using a step ladder, we work our way around the perimeter of the room, attaching a layer of masking paper with the tape. Similar to our process for masking rooflines, we lay down two sheets of masking paper to ensure that no overspray reaches the ceiling.
Check back next week to learn about our process for masking baseboards!
