Wood Deck Maintenance
How To Take Care Of Your Wood Deck
In addition to general wear and tear that decks endure, they are also exposed to the brutal outdoor conditions that we get year round here in Colorado. Maintenance is crucial if you want your wood deck to last!
Here is a simple step-by-step on how to maintain your wood deck, so it stays healthy year-round:
Step 1: Scrape off any loose finish. Remove loose paint or opaque deck stain with a
paint scraper.
Step 2: Scrub the surface. Use a stiff scrub brush to remove flaking stain or dirt.
Step 3: Apply cleaner. It is important to properly clean your deck before staining.
Step 4: Pressure wash the deck.
Step 5: Apply deck stain.
During the year your deck will inevitably peel, even if you use top of the line products. We recommend that as soon as it peels, you scrape, sand and prime the areas that are peeling and apply stain to them ASAP. This way you can stay in control and won’t need to re-stain your whole deck every year.
Now your deck should be reinforced and ready to go! If you’re in need of professional deck staining and maintenance services (or house painting services), contact Peak Pro Painting today!
